Stitchburgh Pattern Party

On Saturday January 14 at 2pm, we’re having a party with pattern designer Sarah Jordan- aka PAKnitWit – to showcase her brand new collection of patterns. Stitchburgh highlights everything that’s great about the Steel City, represented in knitwear! They capture everything from pierogis to the Point. It’s going to be a blast! We will feature new kits of Steel City Fiber‘s yarns to go along with some of Sarah’s beautiful designs. Sarah will be here to answer questions about her Stitchburgh designs or designing knitwear in general. If you’re a knitter in Pittsburgh, this event is for you!

Hang out with us and celebrate an awesome local designer. The party starts at 2 PM, we hope to see you there!

New year, new memberships

With the new year upon us, there are many reasons to get a membership at the Steel City Fiber Collective! Many New Year’s Resolution’s include learning new skills, broadening your horizons, getting out more, or spending less time in front of tv and computer screens. If you’re feeling burned out after spending so much time and energy with and for others over the holidays, the Collective offers an opportunity for quality crafting time (read: me time!). So which membership is right for you?

For people visiting Pittsburgh or casual crafters, a $15 day pass will get you access to all of our equipment and supplies for one day. In a day you can block a bunch of newly finished projects or items that have been in storage. You can overdye a skein or project your dissatisfied with, or create your own custom dyed yarn! You can spin a braid of roving if you’re fast, or you can prep a lot of fiber to take home and spin. If you’re about to start a big knitting project, you can wind all of the yarn with our fancy swift and automated ball winder!

If you’re hesitant to take the plunge into full membership, try our Intro Special. It’s less of a commitment in both time and money. For $25 you get all access and membership benefits for 10 days. Long enough to accomplish a project and short enough that you won’t stress about getting your money’s worth, 10 days is just perfect for newcomers to sample our makerspace. In 10 days you can do a lot of spinning, complete a weaving project or two, or sample all of the crafts at the Collective!

Our regular memberships cost $65 per month ($55 for students). For just over $2 per day you can use any and all of our equipment, including supplies like dyes. For members, there are tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment at your fingertips!

The SCFC founders love new members!

There are no limits to the amount time you spend here or the equipment and supplies you use. Members also get some special perks like 20% off of classes, 10% off store purchases, the ability to rent rooms for group meetings, and some complementary merchandise! See the outline of member benefits on our membership page.

If you know you want to be a long term member, save money with our yearly membership! It’s $700 per year ($650 for students) and the SCFC founders will become your biggest fans and best friends!

We are so much more than a yarn shop, and we hope you get the chance to use all of our amenities, expertise, and fiber equipment. We want to help you expand your art or crafting by learning something new or diving deeper into subjects you already know. You can buy any membership online at or in person. Your membership will begin the first day that you use it!

P.S. Please take our survey, so that the SCFC can learn how to better serve your crafty needs! We will not share your information with any third party.
